Recently Vanessa and I were invited to lead worship at a youth retreat at Epworth by the Sea for 1st United Methodist Church of Alachua.   Named for John and Charles Wesley's home town, this Christian retreat center is excellent.  The place is immaculate, but still very kid friendly.  Well, I felt at home at least.  The food was great, too.

We started with a service Friday evening and introduced the theme of  Choices.  After that we all went back to our cabins and had some fun.  The next morning, we opened the service with worship.  Our new friend Santos shared his testimony, showing how he had always made the wrong choice until chose Jesus Christ. 

Then there was  a cool scavenger hunt, but some people got lost.  So we all went to lunch.  Next was the ropes course involving teamwork, critical thinking, and overcoming fear. 

The weekend culminated later that evening.  We met at the Lovely Lane Chapel for a worship service that was incredible.  God's presence could be felt.  In that small little chapel in Georgia we chose to follow Christ.

We finished the night with a big bonfire to roast marshmallows and hot dogs.  Santos had his first S'more! 

The next morning we attended the Palm Sunday service.  After that we made bracelets and keychains with the beads we had won in the scavenger hunt.  After taking some pictures we returned home.  What a fabulous weekend!!
