Habitat for Humanity
In order to effect an adoption, Vanessa and her colleague, Corinne, got Mrs. Hammock approved with Habitat. This house would mean the adoption could finalize. Next thing I know, my Saturdays and Tuesdays are spent with Ness, Corinne, and this 80 year old woman building, framing, and roofing a house. These hours helped Mrs. Hammock meet her requirements, and she was placed in a home faster than usual. The day finally came when we would move Mrs. Hammock and her three adopted grandchildren into their new home. As an ordained minister, I performed the house blessing ceremony. Vanessa and I played a song, and I gave a short message. She was handed a Bible and the keys. In the next two hours, all those in attendance helped move donated furniture inside and set it up. The pantry was filled. Beds were made. And a home was created. In one morning, the Hammock family had gone from sleeping on the floor of a breezy house to a fully furnished home. The day represented months of hard work, but was nothing short of miraculous providence. I was glad to be apart of the Lord's plan.
